Andy Stephen Norton,
born 12th July 1980, started playing the guitar at the age of
13 and in the space of a year was playing with original local
Cardiff bands. At 15 Andy joined 'The Minnesota Barking Ducks'
to do the blues circuit
.
In 1996 Andy entered a competition in 'Total Guitar' magazine,
one of Europe's largest guitar publications, and finishing runner
up gained a scholarship to 'The Academy Of Contemporary Music'.
Whilst studying at the college Andy worked closely with the
likes of Bruce Dickinson (ex Little Angels), Paul Geary ( Jools
Holland And His Rhythm And Blues Orchestra), and also Paul Winterhart
(Kula Shaker). Leaving
the college with a merit, Andy decided to move to London,
where he found an original group in the shape of 'Denzel'.
After writing and recording with 'Denzel' for a couple of
years, Andy found Dave's 'X-Certificate' in London's Loot
and has been gigging, recording and generally having a top
time with them ever since.....
More recently Andy has joined The Crimea and has been enjoying
success both here and in the States, although
the lure of playing with Dave is strong, so
watch this space.....

Mr X
"I wasn't born, I always existed" claims the mysteriously
gifted Mr X. Certainly if he didn't exist it would have been
necessary for the world of Rock and Roll to invent him.
As keyboard player in The Firebirds and X-Certificate, X never
fails to deliver. "Please don't mention my numerous TV,
radio and live appearances", he say's. So we won't......
Let's concentrate instead on the man behind the myth. If ever
you are fortunate enough to meet him don't be put off by his
steely glare and 'miserable git' stage presence. Beneath the
surface lurks a most approachable and likeable funster. But
sorry girls, not only is meditation tops for X, but he has recently
taken a wife and is a proud father to boot.
"Rock and Roll has been good to me", says X, and for
the past few years he has been repaying the debt by nurturing
the next generation of musicians at the cutting edge of education
in London's violent and undernourished East End . Legend has
it that X once taught the famous footballer Lee Bowyer (Leeds
and England) how to play his first scale.
In his spare, non Rock and Roll moments, X enjoys writing short
stories and has recently completed a novel entitled 'Elvis &
Me'.
Since this was penned Mr X has carried on imparting his musical
genius onto youngsters as head of music at an East London School,
and also runs a nursing agency with his wife Cecile. |
